Professional Background
Professional BackgroundDr. Srisha Rao is a Cardiologist with the Cardiovascular Institute of Central Florida and has been practicing in Ocala/Marion County, Florida for 18 years. Dr. Rao is the Inaugural Medical Ambassador for Advent Health’s Women in Red program, which launched in May 2007. The mission of the Women in Red is to provide women with the facts about heart disease and promote heart health in Marion County and the surrounding areas.
She earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Gandhi Medical College, Osmania University in Hyderabad, AP India. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Cardiology at Catholic Medical Center while attending the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Queens, New York. In addition, Dr. Rao completed a research fellowship in the Electrophysiology division of Cardiology at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 1993 and her Board Certification in Cardiovascular Disease in 1997.
In June 2004, the Marion County Board of County Commissioners appointed Dr. Rao to the Marion County Hospital District Board of Trustees, which she served for 8 years at Advent Health Ocala. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the Marion County Medical Society. She has served as a board member of HCA Ocala and HCA West Marion Hospital.
Dr. Rao is a strong advocate for women’s heart health. -
