    Professional Background
    Dr. Nazli Okumus is an interventional cardiologist specializing in complex coronary, structural heart, and venous thromboembolism interventions. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University/MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, followed by General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology fellowships at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, where she gained broad exposure to advanced structural heart and critical care therapies. Dr. Okumus joined the Cardiovascular Institute of Central Florida in 2025.

    Clinically, Dr. Okumus performs diagnostic cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), intravascular imaging (IVUS), physiologic assessment (FFR/iFR), and peripheral arterial interventions. Her structural heart procedures include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral repair (MitraClip), patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, and left atrial appendage (LAA) occluder device implantation. She also manages pulmonary embolism and deep-vein thrombosis with mechanical thrombectomy, and performs temporary transvenous pacing. In addition, she is proficient in cardiac imaging, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, nuclear stress testing, and coronary CT angiography.

    Board certifications include Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine (ABIM), with additional certifications from the National Board of Echocardiography and the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. Her research and writing have appeared in leading journals and conference proceedings (including JACC: Heart Failure, US Cardiology Review, and Heart Rhythm/ACC abstracts), and she remains active in national professional societies and education initiatives.
