Vascular Conditions & Treatments
Our providers specialize in treating a variety of venous conditions and diseases using some of the most advanced procedures available.
What You Should Know:
Varicose veins, swollen veins, venous ulcers, and other vascular conditions are commonly treated in our practice. While some vein issues are primarily cosmetic, others can be more serious and require prompt medical evaluation and treatment.
Conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) can pose significant health risks and should be addressed as soon as possible. These conditions may impact circulation and, if left untreated, can lead to serious complications.
We treat a wide range of vascular conditions, including:
Medical Vascular Conditions
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
A serious condition where blood clots form in the body's deep veins, usually in the legs. DVT can be caused by prolonged immobility, injury, surgery, pregnancy, and inherited blood clotting disorders, and requires prompt medical attention.
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
A condition in which the arteries that supply blood to the arms and legs become narrowed or blocked, reducing blood flow and potentially causing pain, numbness, or weakness.
Peripheral arterial disease is also commonly referred to as peripheral vascular disease (PVD), a broader historical term used to describe circulatory disorders affecting blood vessels outside the heart and brain.
Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI)
A condition where the veins in the legs have difficulty sending blood back to the heart, leading to blood pooling, swelling, and discomfort. While not curable, symptoms can be effectively managed with treatment.
Common Cosmetic Vein Conditions
Varicose Veins & Swollen Veins
Enlarged, twisted veins that may cause discomfort, heaviness, or visible bulging.
Tortuous Veins
Abnormally twisted or winding veins, typically in the legs, often caused by faulty vein valves and improper blood flow.
Cosmetic (Spider) Veins
Small, reddish-purple veins with a web-like appearance, commonly found on the legs or face. These are typically harmless but may be treated for cosmetic reasons.
Advanced Diagnostic Testing Possibilities
Vascular Ultrasound
A vascular ultrasound is an imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to evaluate blood flow through the arteries and veins. This advanced diagnostic tool offers detailed information that can be used to diagnose and guide the treatment of numerous conditions affecting the veins and arteries.
Peripheral Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA)
Peripheral CTA is a non-invasive imaging technique used to evaluate vascular conditions beyond the heart. This advanced medical imaging technology utilizes X-rays and computer technology to create detailed images of the blood vessels in the peripheral areas of the body, including the arms, legs, abdomen, and pelvis.
Other common diagnostic tests offered include:
Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) Screening
An ankle-brachial index (ABI) screening is a simple, noninvasive test used to check for peripheral artery disease (PAD) in the legs. It compares the blood pressure in the ankles to the blood pressure in the arms to determine how well blood is flowing.
