Since 2015, Dr. Urban has served as a vital member of the Cardiovascular Institute of Central Florida, contributing his wealth of knowledge and experience to the practice. Prior to this, he founded Urban Cardiology in 2010, solidifying his dedication to providing exceptional cardiac care to the residents of Ocala. His career journey also includes notable roles at the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Ocala Interventional Cardiology, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of cardiovascular healthcare in the region.

Dr. Urban’s journey into cardiology began with a Doctor of Medicine degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in 1977, followed by extensive medical training and fellowships at renowned institutions such as Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Wilmington Medical Center. Throughout his career, Dr. Urban has remained at the forefront of medical innovation and research, participating in numerous clinical trials and earning recognition for his contributions to the field.

Committed to advancing the practice of cardiology, Dr. Urban maintains active memberships in prestigious medical organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and Heart Rhythm Society. He is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, with certifications in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.

In addition to his clinical endeavors, Dr. Urban has held several esteemed appointments, including President of the Medical Staff and Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Notably, he opened the cardiac cath lab at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital (formerly Marion Community Hospital) in May 1989, relocating from Advent Health Orlando. His leadership and expertise have been instrumental in shaping the standards of cardiovascular care in the community.
